Soup & salad. Soup & a baked potato. Soup & a sandwich. What's not to like? Especially on a cold, drizzly day in Seattle.
Nana's Soup House recently moved from the U District to a cozy old house in Fremont. They have about 10 soups every day, of which around half are vegetarian or vegan. You can also always get a baked potato, with or without fixins, and a short list of sandwiches.
On my first visit I had a corn chowder and a grilled panini with pesto and cheese ($9.50). This is definitely not fancy fare, but everything was tasty and the whole group I went with was quite satisfied. I'd call it hippie food in a good way, meaning hearty and straightforward and relaxed.
If I were to pick one small nit, when you order a soup and sandwich combo, it would be nice if they brought your soup right away so you could start eating while waiting for the sandwich to be made.
